The department is internationally accredited through the Commission on Fire Accreditation International and currently has an Insurance Services Office (ISO) Community Rating of Class 3. Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue operates out of five fire stations, outfitted with state of the art vehicles and equipment strategically located throughout the City to provide an exceptional level of service.

OPERATIONS DIVISION

The Operations Division of Fire Rescue includes firefighters and firemedics who are on duty around the clock to respond to emergencies throughout the City. They are housed in five fire stations strategically located to ensure effective response times to all neighborhoods and commercial areas, and each station always has a crew consisting of, at minimum, a lieutenant, a driver/ engineer and three firefighters or firemedics. Additionally, a captain is in charge of each shift and another captain is in charge of Emergency Medical Services and responses on each shift.

Service is delivered by way of four paramedic staffed fire engines, one ladder truck, one elevated platform and five transport capable rescue units. In addition, the department maintains an air light unit, two brush units, medical support trailer, two special event golf cart style transport units and a utility vehicle.

The Operations Division responds to more than 8,000 calls for emergency assistance every year, the majority of which are for medical emergencies. They also respond to structure fires, vehicle fires, brush/ wild land fires, hazardous materials incidents, rescues, extrication emergencies, bomb scares, gas leaks, and public assistance calls. Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue was the first City in Palm Beach County to receive Accreditation Status by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI). All components of the organization were evaluated during this process and met very difficult benchmarks. As part of an annual Re-Accreditation Process, the department and the Operations Division strive for perfection in order to provide the public with the best possible service levels.

EMS DIVISION

Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division was established in 1995 and provides both Advanced and Basic Life Support Treatment and Transport. This is accomplished using a very talented group of firefighters who maintain certification as either an Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) or Paramedic. Paramedic personnel maintain the highest minimum ALS certification levels of any ground agency in Palm Beach County. In addition, Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue also provides tactically trained paramedics for the Police SWAT Team.

The Division currently operates five ALS rescue transport units and four ALS engines as part of the minimum response standards. Each shift has an EMS Captain who provides supervision of field staff and insures that quality assurance standards are maintained.

As part of our efforts to ensure the best possible outcome for cardiac arrest patients, the EMS Division has spearheaded a Public Access Defibrillation Program which includes placement of AED Units in all city buildings, police patrol units, local businesses and communities. Palm Beach Gardens was the first community in Palm Beach County to have a 12 Lead ECG Receiving Station at our local receiving hospital (Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center) where ECG transmissions are sent simultaneously from the field directly to the emergency room and the cardiac catheterization to expedite patient care.
